FacebookBACON CHEDDAR SCONES using half unbleached white flour & half whole wheat flour
Ingredients:
1 cup All Purpose flour (spelt)
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 Tablespoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
6(3oz) Tablespoons butter, frozen
½ cup white or yellow cheddar cheese, grated
½ cup bacon bits (natural, cooked, drained)
2 tablespoons chives, chopped
1 egg
½ cup sour cream
½ cup heavy cream
Method:
Combine flours, salt, baking powder in large bowl. Toss in cheese, bacon, chives until they are coated in dry ingredients. Cut in butter taking care not to over work. In separate container blend cream, sour cream and egg. Stir wet into dry mixture and blend into ball. Chill about 30 min. Pat into 1” deep square about 8” x8”; cut into mini squares. Bake 400°F 20 min. Serve warm.
